Great News & Updates‏-SRC

Firstly,


Attention to those who have worked for IMU Open Day(Feb),
Sorry for the delay! You can collect your IMU Open Day payment from SRC office at this period of time:

8 April (Thursday): 2-5pm
For full day shift: RM30
For half day shift: RM15

Secondly,
SRC 09/10 have subscribed 1 year Magazines for Student Lounge for students to read starting from May 2010-May 2011! The magazines include TIME, FORTUNE & READER's DIGEST! Hopefully all the students will like it!

Thirdly,
"Save Our Earth" Week by SRC 09/10 have come to the end on last week. However, I do hope that students will continue to play your roles to Save Our Planet Earth! Keep bringing your containers for take away food instead of using polystyrene which will harm the environment! Go Green T-shirt & Badges are still available for sales!

Fourthly,
Cafe Meeting will be held on 19 April 2010. So any complaints regarding the cafe caterers (especially the new caterer-Impian Rasa) can be brought up to either the treasurer (Ickes) or the president (Zia) so that we can discuss with the cafe committee in the meeting!

Fifthly,
Regarding the Vending Machines, it was still pending as IMU is still finding the best Vending Machine Company for the students. So be anticipated and we will try to bring them in as soon as possible!

Sixthly,
Regarding the Astro in student lounge, we are so regretted that it went inactive for few weeks as we are in the process of changing it from family package to commercial package. Regards to that, we are no longer able to afford all the channels as they are too expensive. We have increased our budget from around RM300-400 per month to RM750 per month, hopefully the channels we have chosen will benefit the students.

The channels available now are:
1) Sports Package – RM550
Most students hanging out at student lounge are usually very active in sports; in contrast, nerdy students would be reading books at home.
Thus, sports channel is viewed rather often.

2) Star World – RM60
A lot of series are shown here (e.g. heroes, ugly betty, American Idol) and I believe most students will like to watch it.

3) AXN –RM40
I have noticed students like to watch reality series for example, Biggest Loser in Asia, Amazing Race and etc. We can have it here on AXN.

4) Discovery Channel –RM 40
Among all the learning channels, I found discovery channel to be most informative and interesting (history channel is boring, while Nat Geo focuses too much on wildlife).

5) MTV Channel-RM60
MTV channel is relaxing, and enlightened with musics. I found that a lot of students will prefer to watch this channel.

Lastly,
Just a kind reminder about ECA Form, please submit it to my possible new treasurer (Yeh Fong) before 28 May 2010. Don't submit at the last minute and please submit it fast. Delayed submission will result in cutting of funds and if possible clubs being abolished! I will be stepping down and pass most of my treasurer works to my new possible treasurer starting from 8 April 2010. So, clubs will be working & meeting with new treasurer soon. However, the official hand-over ceremony will be around in May. Be informed!

Malaysian Studies Photos!!! =)

Everybody who are involved did a very great and impressive job for making a good performance last night. All of us deserved a big good clap. It turned out to be a very smooth show & we still got 1 hour extra to take group photos =p The audience laugh non-stop from the start to the end. I hope that everyone enjoy the play as much as Dr Kang, he even gave a thumb up for the play!! I would like to thank everyone for putting up a memorable show!

Malaysian Studies pictures are available in I drive: I drive>BPHARM>ChemOffice Manuals>Malaysian Studies 1Apr10. It's only available in I drive for 1 week, so pls hurry up!!!

Some Important Annoucements!!!!

1.) CNS CAL Test

Pls take note that the venue will be held in e-lab 3. The time for the grouping will be as follow:

Group A & B: 10.30am-11.30am

Group C & D: 11.45am-12.45pm

For Group C & D, pls stay back in dewan chancellor after the GI workshop for quarantine. Pls ignore the 1.30-2.30pm slot in the timetable. Our class starts at 2.45pm.

2.) For group D, pls pass up the pharmaceutics III prac report 6 (IPQC II) to me during the GI workshop tmr.


3.) Pls don't forget to upload the med chem portfolio in the I drive as what we did before for pharm analysis II portfolio on 31 March 2010, before 5.30pm. The hard copy also pass up to AAD as well before 5.30pm.


4.) There'll be a full rehearsal for the Malaysian Studies role play today (31/3/2010-Wed) night at 7pm at LT2. Attendance is compulsory, so all have to come and support bcuz Mrs Phoon will be there as well.


5.) Pharmaceutics III Industrial Visit

The namelist is available in I drive under Timetable & Notices folder. Pls check yr grouping for this visit as there's slight changes in the grouping list.

Pls arrive at least 30 minutes before the time stated, because the bus will leave sharp at that time, so pls be punctual. All group leaders pls take notes about this and that groups B has pharm chem students. We will be accompanied by 2 lecturers during the visit.

Regarding the dress code, pls follow strictly IMU dress code and pls bring yr well-pressed lab coat, name tag, student ID and also the log book. The attendance is compulsory.

For the log book submission for group A to C, pls pass up to AAD after 1 week from the day of visit. As for group D, pls pass up on the next monday, which is 19/4/2010.

In Conjunction of Save Our Earth Week‏!!!

Dear STUDENTS & STAFFS of IMU!

Please take note that in conjunction of our Save the Earth week (29/3/2010- 2/4/2010), SRC will be having a Bring Your Own Container Campaign!

No polystyrene is allowed during this week.

However, cafeteria will be providing paper food container for packing purposes.Due to limited paper food container, polystyrene maybe used for packaging once the paper food container finished. Please take note the RM0.30 will be charged for such service (applies either for paper container/polystyrene container).The fund will be go into WWF organization. So, please be encouraged to use your OWN CONTAINER to pack your food (whether in uni or not).

Let us BYOC together and save our environment! Make this event a success shall we? ^^

In conjunction with SAVE OUR EARTH WEEK, there will be having a recycling drive from the 29th of March to the 1st of April.

All students can bring in their recyclable items on these dates to the SRC room.

There will be prizes for the batch who recycles the most, so get your batch together for a good cause!!

IMU SRC 09/10

IMU Tennis Championship 2010‏

Dear all,

The IMU Tennis Club will be organizing the IMU Tennis Championship on the 10th and 11th April 2010.

There will be 4 categories contested.

Men's and Women's Singles, Men's and Women's Doubles.

For the singles events there will be 16 females and 16 males and for the doubles event there will be 8 pairs for the men’s and 8 pairs for the ladies’. The event will be held at the Duta National Tennis Centre 10 (Singles event) and 11 (Doubles event) April 2010, 8am -12pm. For the preliminary rounds, players will play one tie break set with advantage play, while the Semi-Finals and Finals will be one pro set (first to reach 8 games) no tie break, advantage play. Punctuality is important, as walkover will be given if the player is not present after 10 minutes. Prizes for all categories are : 1st prize RM100, 2nd Prize RM80 and 3rd Prize RM50. Winners will also be awarded certificates. Entrance fee is RM5 per person per event.

As there are limited places, registration is on a first come first serve basis and registration will close next Friday, 2nd April 2010. To register please reply this email with your FULL NAME ,Student ID number and which event you would like to enter (e.g. males singles or ladies doubles). The entrance fee will be collected sometime next week at the atrium. Will inform via email which days those are.

IMU Video Game Session 24th March 2010 (Student Lounge)‏

Dear batch reps,


On the 24th of March, the IMU Ball 2010 committee will be organising a GAMING EVENT! There will be BAND HERO and DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION available so start practising at home, be it dancing in the streets or singing in the showers. Talent or no talent, we want to see all of you there. It will be a rocking good time so do drop by, relax a little and relieve yourself of the stress that's found around every corner within IMU. Who doesn't love those funky dance mats and a chance to shine at playing a guitar or beating away clumsily at the drums. It doesn't happen every day in IMU so DO NOT MISS OUT ON YOUR GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY TO SHOW OFF TO YOUR PEERS YOUR SUPERB HAND-EYE COORDINATION!

The event will be held at the student lounge with the PS3 set and games there whereas the dance dance revolution game will be organised within the very cosy enclave of the dance room. Light snacks and refreshments will be available in case you have burnt off all the calories and need some refuelling. Oh and we have GRAN TURISMO 5!!! For those of you who have always dreamt of releasing your inner rempit, seize this chance now!

Each participant will be required to pay a small fee of RM3 for 2 rounds. The winner of each round gets to stay on to play until he/she is beaten to pulp and faces the shame of losing.
