Book voucher distribution‏

Dear students,

The Student Services Department (SSD) have collected the book vouchers worth RM200 from the Ministry of Higher Education. They will be distributing the vouchers to the students starting next week, Monday, 16th of January. Only batches that are around in IMU will receive their vouchers first. The rest would have to wait for once you're back from holidays. Each batch will have a SPECIFIC TIME and DATE to collect their vouchers from the SSD.

This arrangement is done to ensure all students receive their vouchers and also its the best possible way to hand out vouchers to the students. Every voucher has a serial number. The serial number of the voucher which each student receives has to be recorded and submitted back to the Ministry of Higher Education.

There is an expiry date which is the 31st of March 2012. Even if you have not received your vouchers yet, please start looking for which books you would like to purchase and then you could get them straight away once you have the vouchers in hand.

Book Voucher (EXPIRES ON 31 MARCH 2012)

IMU have collected the Book Voucher from the Ministry of Higher Education and we will be distributing the book voucher from Monday, 16 January 2012. We will work with the Batch reps for a most suitable time for the collection of the voucher.

These are the following points that students need to be aware:

General Info

Each student will be given 4 pieces of the book voucher (RM50 per piece)
Students must ensure that the voucher has IMU stamp at the back of the voucher

Expiry

The book voucher expires on the 31 March 2012
If the voucher is not utilized by 31 March 2012, you must return the voucher back to Student Services Department (IMU will not give you cash instead, we will return the voucher to the Ministry)
Malaysian only

Usage

Students can use the voucher in any book store
The voucher is for the purchase of academic books, academic magazine and stationaries as required by the university
Students need to write their name and IC number on the book voucher
The students must show their IC when purchasing
If the value of the book exceeds the amount of RM200, students need to pay the remaining balance; if the value of the book is below that the amount (i.e. 175) the seller will not give the remaining balance to the students
The voucher cannot be exchanged for cash

Graduation Retreat

To ALL,

The IMU Alumni Committee and Student Service Department (SSD) would like to find out whether anyone from BP108 cohort would be interested to have a graduation retreat. This graduation retreat is a 3 days/2 nights retreat in a resort, usually not too fair from KL.

The retreat usually consists of workshops on

1.) financial planning,

2.) personal grooming, and

3.) stress management.

The workshops aimed to provide some basic skills which would be helpful for students when they come out to work in future. The IMU Alumni has organised two of such retreats previously; one in Port Dickson and one in Seremban; majority of those participated by medical students. The participants usually gave good feedback.

Information about the graduation retreat:

Proposed place is in Malacca (Alumni committee/ Student Services Department would help to find one)
It will be a 3 days/2 night’s event. Dates can be decided by participants as long as we have at least 20 participants.
Programme – can be negotiated. Due to time constraints – you would not be able to cover every single topics of interest, but you have ideas of what you want, we will try to source for speakers.
The fees for students would be a maximum of RM 300 to covers some of the accommodation and food. IMU would pay the rest e.g. speakers fees and accommodation. Transportation to resort not included.

Stress management

Proposal of some new topics:

Working with colleagues & bosses – interpersonal skills training
Time management (Effective Multi-taskings)

2.) A reminder from AAD: for the submission deadline of the dissertation is by 30 NOV 2011 (Thursday) (Week 21) before 5pm. Extension of student lounge opening hours‏

Dear ALL,

The following post is about the extended opening hours of the Student Lounge until 2 am on certain days. Read the post for more information. Thank you.

Dear Students of IMU,

The SRC and SSD are glad to inform you that with effective 3rd November 2011 the Student Lounge Opening Hours will be extended to 2am. This is only applicable to Thursday’s, Friday’s, Saturday’s and Sunday’s. As for the remaining days, the Student Lounge will close at 12am.

This arrangement is only for a trial period of ONE MONTH from Thursday, the 3rd of November until Sunday, the 4th of December. We still have to cross a few obstacles before this arrangement is made permanent. If we are able to follow the criteria during this trial period, then the Student Lounge will be permanently open until 2am on the four days as stated above.

The criteria are as listed below:

1) The Student Lounge will only be open until 2am on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
2) There must not be any damage to the equipment in the Student Lounge.
3) Only IMU STUDENTS are allowed to enter the Student Lounge especially on weekends.
4) Students should walk safely while walking back to Vista or their cars after 12.00 am onwards until 2 am and should not be harmed in any way while walking back during the trial period.

If any of these criteria are not adhered to during the trial period, this TEMPORARY arrangement will not be allowed to be made permanent and students will not be able to enjoy the benefits of extended Student Lounge opening hours.

So, students of IMU, the SRC has once again listened to your concerns and have acted upon them. Also I would like to stress on the importance on student safety once you guys leave the Student Lounge from 12am onwards, since it’s the main concern of the SRC and the SSD while agreeing to make this change and allow the trial period. Please try
to travel in packs or groups when leaving and STAY SAFE.

In the meantime, pls make sure you have sufficient time to do your work and need to focus on your research thesis and presentation too. Dear ALL,

First of all, I on behalf of IMU would to express my deepest regret and apology for posting up of the CGPA of all yr classmates. I'm truly sorry about this. I have informed Ms Jade to remove this part from the hospital name list.

For the hospital attachment, I just want to inform u all that we treat this placement as an important/urgent matter. On our side, we have done the planning, paper work, negotiation since months ago. We shared concerns but the confirmation is not within our control. We required students to be a bit patient and please cooperate with us, and trust that we will do necessary to ensure that placement is fulfilled.

Students also need to understand that with present limitations/constraints, we are not likely to offer the placement sites as students' wishes. We want to make this placement arrangement as smooth as possible within these limitations, so we are happy to consider reasonable suggestions/ideas from students if is within our/university capacity to implement. I understand everyone's situation but Mr Rohit, AAD and I have try our very best to come out with the name list and allocate students normally and preferably to yr hometown. For now, u all need to place learning beyond everything else.

We have actually noted all the possible issues/concerns as it were raised before since your seniors cohort. I believe all your seniors have made necessary accommodation arrangements accordingly. So, my suggestion is for you and peers to find out from seniors how they have done it. We are happy to offer support within our capacity. As for the financial concerns - I guess students need to make necessary arrangement with family. This issue, I’m sorry that I really cannot help.

I treat this attachment as part of students learning (personal development) and a chance for u all to explore other region in Malaysia. Mutually swapping with a valid reason except financial concerns, I generally allowed but not changing to another hospital without swapping, because the number is fixed. So for the letter, remember to pass up to Ms Jade, AAD before this coming Friday noon (12pm) and also pass u and yr friend’s details to Jun Yan/Siao Hui as well. And I urge u everyone to settle the accommodation whenever u can before 5 December (before it’s too late) so that we can proceed with the attachment smoothly. If you have any queries, pls don’t hesitate to ask me.

Reminder about sem 7 dissertation submission and oral presentation

Dear all,

The deadline for the submission of the Sem 7 dissertation is 30 Nov 2011 (Wednesday)(Week 21). Dr. Tan Eng Lai said all the details about the format and the binding of the dissertation are written in the Handbook, so pls refer to the book. As for the second submission of the dissertation, we have submit the corrected version with the soft copy in CD and pass up to AAD within one month upon receiving it from AAD. If u r in outstation away during the Sem 8 clinical attachment, u can pass to any friends around KL to help u submit.

As for the Research Finding Oral Presentation on 1st & 2nd Nov, the grouping list will be the same as the previous session but the assessors might be different than the first. U can check them in the timetable. I will announce about the Sem 8 hospital attachment soon if there's any news from Ms Wong or AAD.

A workshop on the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) will be held on 1 October 2011 (Saturday) at IMU Bukit Jalil Campus.

The objectives of the workshop are:

1. To help students familiarise themselves with the format of the exam

2. To explore favourable techniques in answering MUET questions

3. To answer candidates' questions on the exam

The registration form for the workshop is available from Academic Affairs Department, IMU Bukit Jalil Campus or may be downloaded from the IMU e-learning portal (Languages – English Support Webpage). Please submit the completed form to Academic Services Department (ASD), IMU.

News about Library Opening Hours (After one month TRIAL)‏

Hey everyone,

Hope you all had a great holiday period during the raya break and welcome back!

As most of you might know, the new library opening hours were on a trial period for a month. However, as of 5th September 2011, the library Collaborative Study Area will be open till 12.00 am on weekdays on a permanent basis.

On behalf of Simran and the rest of the SRC, we wish to thank you in helping us out during the trial period and making sure that the criteria and guidelines were met with. Also, we would kindly like to remind you to please follow these criteria and guidelines in the future as one small mishap is enough for the management to cancel off these extended operating hours.

As a reminder, the criteria are as follows:

1) All books are to be returned by 10 pm

2) No borrowing of books after 10 pm

3) No books or MMS models should be misplaced or damaged during the trial period

4) A minimum of 20 students on average should be present in the CSA.

5) Last but not least, the most important issue:

Students should walk safely while walking back to Vista or their cars after 12.00 am

and should not get mugged on the way during the trial period.

Hope everyone enjoys the newly provided operating hours in the library and please as a reminder again I would like to inform you:

1) No eating or drinking in the library except for mineral water. Any student has the right to complain or to send off the student who does not oblige by this rule.

2) Please abide by the dress code implemented by the library.

There will be lots of performances (dances and singings) and hopefully all the lecturers can attend as well. The library closure was a joint discussion with the Library Staff and the SRC, in which we, the SRC agreed with the staff for this extended holiday.

Due to the library closure, the SRC has managed to open the TEMPORARY STUDY AREA next to the IMU specialist clinic during the Hari Raya Break from 9.00 a.m. - 10.00 p.m.

Sem 8 Career Talk

Dear all,

A message from Ms Wong regarding a career talk that she is planning for us during Sem 8. This talk is very useful for us bcuz it's about the life as pharmacist after we have graduated from IMU. They have started this event from last year and have invited many external guests (pharmacists of course) which include hospital pharmacist, industrial pharmacist, enforcement pharmacist and pharmacist involved in the field of research. Ms Wong emphasised that the attendance of this event for the class must be more than 80%. If not, this event will not be held for the future juniors to come. (We do not want this to happen don't we?) Bcuz we're inviting many external guests and our IMU image is very important for us to maintain. She urge us to come bcuz this talk is free and very useful for us in future.

So now, the problem is the time of this event. We have two choices to choose from.

First one is to held it during the month of Integrated Seminar for the module of clinical pharmacy. For this seminar, we are going to prepare the powerpoint slides for the clinical cases that we have clerked in the hospital and present it. The pros is that everyone will be in IMU but the cons is that not many people might turn up bcuz everyone will be busy with the workload.

The second choice is to held this on the last day of Sem 8, which is on the day of collecting the results. So for this day, the talk will start maybe from morning then ends with the results collection and a small tea party with the lecturers. The pros is that everyone will be free on that day. The cons is that there might not be many people turn up for the results collections that day.

So the choices are yrs now. I urge everyone to vote for the date of the career talk bcuz Ms Wong is going to planning the Sem 8 timetable now. Now, u all can vote in facebook in the BP108 group there, latest by next Monday. I need inform Ms Wong about this as soon as possible.

Another thing is that u all can suggest what topic regarding the pharmacists that u all interested to know like what is the life as a PRP or FRP, for example. U all can comment in the facebook there as well, so that Ms Wong can plan who are the suitable people that she can invite for us for the career talk. I really u guys to cooperate with me for this respond.

Inifinity Milers are holding a charity run on the 18th September 2011. All proceeds will go to charity so do join. A few hours of time and a bit of money can go a long way. IMPORTANT - Library Hours Extended on weekdays (One month TRIAL)‏

Dear students of IMU,

As per your requests, the SRC and the Library dept. are glad to inform you that with effective from 1st August 2011 the IMU Library Collaborative Study Area (CSA) will be open till 12:00 a.m. on weekdays.

However, we still have to cross a few bumps before we can make it permanent. Yes, everyone, it’s still temporary and on a TRIAL period till the 25th of august 2011. If we are able to follow the criteria given to us by the Library dept. till the end of the trial period, then of course the library CSA will continue to be open till 12:00 a.m.

The criteria are as listed below:

1) All books are to be returned by 10 pm

2) No borrowing of books after 10 pm

3) No books or MMS models should be misplaced or damaged during the trial period

4) A minimum of 20 students on average should be present in the CSA.

5) Last but not least, the most important issue:

Students should walk safely while walking back to Vista or their cars after 12am and should not get mugged on the way during the trial period.

If any of these 5 Criteria are breached or not fulfilled (especially the last 3), then the whole thing is KAPUT!! In other words, library CSA will only be open till 10 p.m., we will never be given a chance to increase library operation hours in the future ever again.

Furthermore, the QSA and MMS section will be closed after 10 p.m. and only 2 part-time student librarians and a security guard will be overseeing the library till midnight after 10 p.m. The Reserve Collection Area will be out of bounds during the time 10 – 12 also.

So, students of IMU, the SRC has once again listened to your concerns and have acted upon them. This time, it is up to you to keep this newly granted opportunity and to not mess it up in anyway, if you would like the library CSA to be open till 12:00 a.m. on weekdays.

Also I would like to stress on the importance on student safety once they leave the library at midnight, since that is the main reason the library dept. is concerned about. Please try to travel in packs or groups. Guys I need not remind you, now’s the chance to jump in and walk those pretty ladies off to safety :P.

Anyways, thank you for your support extended to us in this matter and with your help I believe that in the near future we can make more exceptional changes to the library to benefit your needs. Your SRC president, Simran Singh will be visiting most of the batches to announce more details regarding this matter.

Temporary study area next to IMU specialist centre‏

Dear students,

The previous council managed to get a temporary study area next to the IMU specialist centre as an alternative study area for students to study and revise. This temporary study area was initially only for 6 months (Sept 10-March 11).

However, the new council has managed to extend the use of this area indefinitely. Students can continue using this temporary area for now.

This area is actually for IMU Health Care expansion. Facilities and Management (FMA) department are awaiting management's decision on this area and begin with expansion of the specialist centre. In the mean time, students can use this area until further notice.

FMA has already added more tables and chairs in that area. Students are reminded not to remove any tables or chairs from this area.

Evaluation of Potential Operator 2‏

Dear students,

As mentioned in the earlier blog post, we will be having 2 potential operators setting up a kiosk in the university. One of the caterers Tuk Tuk provided food for 4 days last week and we have already gathered feedback from the students.

Unfortunately, the other potential operator Vista Saji have sent their apologies that they are unable to set-up their kiosk as arranged and have withdrawn their interest from being a potential canteen operator here in IMU.

However, another operator Rampai Katerer will be replacing them as they have expressed their interest in operating here in IMU. They will set up a kiosk in the cafeteria area starting from tomorrow, 19th of July until Friday, 22nd of July.

Once again, do try out the food provided by this operator as well and kindly give us your feedback on their food taste, portion and pricing.

Feedback can be emailed to imusrc@gmail.com. We really appreciate your feedback, so a decision can be made to obtain a new canteen operator.

The canteen committee will be having a meeting early next week to discuss the feedback provided about these 2 potential operators. Thank you.

Annual Chinese Singing Competition is BACK!!!! (2011)

IMU Chinese Cultural Club will be organizing our annual event, Chinese Singing Competition in August. Details are as follow:

Categories: Solo/ Group
Audition: 4th August 2011
Final: 11th August 2011
Time: 6.30pm – 12.00am
Venue: LT 2
Fees: RM 7 for solo/ RM 12 for group

Scoring system:
Audition: 70% judge 30% voting
Final: 80% judge 20% voting

Deadline of registration: 29th July 2011

In audition round, each contestant would sing a song of their own choice.
In final round, there are 2 sections. First section would be similar to audition round where contestants can choose from any song genre. In second section, all contestants would need to perform a rock song.

In both rounds, contestants are required to prepare own music. A lot of prizes are up for grabbed which include cash prizes, certificates and trophies.

Do not let your singing talent goes unnoticed. Register now and shine on stage!!!

Evaluation of Potential Food Operator‏!

Dear Students,

Beginning from today, we have arranged for 2 potential caterers to set-up a kiosk to present/sell their food at the LG floor (in front of the Student Lounge).

From tomorrow to 15 July, Tuk Tuk (Jakim Certified operator) will offer breakfast and lunch. Breakfast will commence at 7.30am and lunch from 10.30am onwards. Menu offered for tomorrow is Nasi lemak and fried noodles @ RM2 per pack and they are offering lunch sets with a drink @ RM5 per pack, ie

Set 1: White rice, veg, taufoo and either asam kampong fish OR Chicken Curry

Set 2: Pineapple fried rice, pandan chicken and mango salad

Once we have their menu for the following days, we will publicize it accordingly.

The 2^nd operator Vista Saji (Jakim Certified operator) will set-up their kiosk at the same location from 18th to 22 July. We are yet to receive their menu and pricing.

Please do try out the food provided by these potential canteen operators and give us have your feedback on their food taste, portion and pricing.

We are replacing the current canteen operator Oval Success within the next few weeks with either one of these two potential canteen operators. 4. Goal Keepers are only allowed to use their hand in their own penalty area, opponents will be awarded a free kick if any form of foul is conducted and a penalty kick will be awarded if a foul is conducted in own penalty area.
5. Strictly obey the decision of referee.
6. Strictly adhere to own team colour and dress code.
7. Captain should make sure their own teams are always ready before their next match.

Just to inform u all first: We will be organising another Futsal event during the first week of sem 7. It will be held tentatively on thursday or friday night, preferably on Thursday night bcuz there is no class on Friday.

The further details of the event will be announced on 4th July (Monday) as we are still planning about this event. We just inform u guys earlier so that u guys can plan yr own time ahead.

I really hope that everyone will come and participate this event as this will be our last big event before heading into our own research project and also hospital attachment in sem 8. Everyone including girls are welcome to join this class event.

A Reminder about the Elective Report! ♥♥♥♥

Dr Gan said that the external form is optional and not compulsory, but if you have an external supervisor who is willing to fill the form, you may include and attach the complete external form to your report.

However, for the internal assessment form, pls don’t attach to the report but you may submit together with your report to your tutor. Your tutor would need to assess your report and submit this form to the AAD.

All students MUST submit 1 copy of elective written report and assessment forms to their respective TUTORS latest by 15/7/2011 (Friday) (Sem 7 WEEK 2). If you are unable to find your tutor up to 15 July 2011, then only you may submit to Ms Chee Ling.

A Note about Sem 7

Sem 7 will be starting in 4th July (Monday). For the details about the outstanding amount of tuition fees for the next sem, pls refer to the post below.

The timetable is now being finalised and will be uploaded into the e-learning portal latest one week before the new term starts. Once it has been released, I'll announced it in the class blog. One thing to take note is that from now, the timetable (hard copy version) WILL NOT BE PROVIDED anymore from AAD. But no need to worry we'll print for everyone together with the sem 7 module guides.

IMU Starbucks Patrol

The Starbucks chill patrol will be arriving to IMU next monday (April 18th) from 11am to 8pm. The menu Starbucks will be having on this coming monday is shown is the poster below.

Just to clarify things, we made a tentative deal with Starbucks to arrive to IMU once EVERY TWO/FOUR weeks based on the amount of sales they make. On Monday they will be "testing the market". if it turns out that the sales are going well, of course they'd want to come more frequently (perhaps once a week in the future?)

We are pleased to announce the following:

1) Foodprint

Commencing April 2011, Foodprint will now operate for 4 days ie Tuesday to Friday. Pls continue to provide your support to encourage them to stay and extend sales to 5 days a week.

2) Impian Rasa

Impian Rasa will be leaving IMU as the main operator on 30 April 2011. Their last operation day is set on Friday, 29 April 2011. They will serve lunch till 2pm. Thereafter they will be clearing/cleaning the premise for handover.

3) Oval Success Sdn Bhd

We are pleased to confirm that Oval Success has been awarded the contract and will replace Impian Rasa as main operator. They will commence their operation on Tuesday, 3 May 2011. Currently they are operating café/canteen at UMMC, DBKL and Hostels/Schools canteen. They will operate from 7am to 10.30pm, Monday to Friday and Saturday from 8am to 10pm only.

Reminder: Extra Curriculum Activities!

Dear All,

Perhaps I did not make it any clearer. This is some of the general rules regarding extra curriculum activities or student related activities:

Approval:

1. All application for event must be submitted 2 weeks prior. Please submit form A and B to Student Service Department (SSD).

Location:

1. Venue must be booked 2 weeks prior. Fill in the ECA Booking Form that you can get from SSD. All venue must be approved by SSD and AAD. Atrium are only for exhibition related event. NO AUDIO is allowed in atrium. All events involving AUDIO or SPEAKER must use Driveway. No exception for anyone. No cheers are allowed as well in IMU premises during office hour.

2. Greenzone utilization is allocated based on sports club. Please liaise with them if you need to use it. You can only use it during weekdays as IMU. Weekend is for the public as we have make agreement with DBKL regarding this. Only if there is no taker by Friday 5:30, IMU students is allowed to use it.

Promotion:

1. No promotion is allowed on any glass surface of IMU.

2. Promotional material need to be taken down latest 2 days after the event.

I will update you on and off again. But please make sure everyone that will be organizing student event are aware of this (i.e Club and societies, batches).

Date: Thursday, March 31

Time: 7:00pm - 11:30pm

In this stage, the contestant will be competing in a PK stage. It is a 1-vs-1 sing-off. The contestants will have to showcase their skills and the winner will move on the the next round.

Toxicology announcements! ♥♥

1. Toxicology Powerpoint Presentation Softcopy Submission

First of all, I would to thank everyone for the cooperation regarding the submission to AAD on last Friday. Most of the classmates put the reports into the correct pigeon holes. Thanks~~

For the Toxicology Powerpoint Presentation Softcopy Submission, we have to submit a CD for each subgroup within a big group.

The procedure is like this: Within a group, we have small subgroups presenting on certain topics. Let say there are 6 persons in a group, 2 persons forms a pair presenting on a same topic. So, this subgroup we need to submit 1 CD, total of 3 CDs in this group. If for some groups, the presenting is based on individual person basis, then each person in that group have to produce 1 CD each.

Pls write down yr personal details (name, ID, group no, supervisor name & topic) and then staple all of them together and submit in as one group on this Friday. Please save it in Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 version. If u have save in other version, the lecturer might not be able to open the files and assessment is not possible. I know it's very tedious but this is the request from Dr Ooi.

As for the Toxicology seminar on 12/4 (Tuesday) (Week 14), the best pair will be present on that day. The time allocated per group is 10 mins and 5 mins for Q & A session. This file no need to include in the CD. No marks will be assessed on the Seminar and the attendance is compulsory. Failure to attend the seminar, certified letter need to be sent to Ms Chee Ling and Ms Wong stating the reason of why it is not able to attend the seminar. The reason MUST BE VALID!!!

Don't forget that we need to submit the EBM report to AAD as well. WE HAVE TO PASS UP BOTH REPORT IN THE SAME PIGEON HOLE: BP108.

2. Toxicology CAL Quiz

For the Toxicology CAL Quiz on this Friday (25/4) (Week 11), the exam starts at 8.30am SHARP. Pls be punctual. The duration for this exam is 1/2 hour and only 15 questions have to answer all. The venue of the exam are as follow:

Group A & B: e-lab 3

Group C & D: e-lab 4 (together with Pharm Chem Students)

It will be on the basis on free-seating within yr own group and the questions will be at random from one person to another. No cheating is possible. No books or lecture notes are allowed, it's a closed-book exam!! Pls take note about this.

Cancer Chemotherapy Attachment!

For Cancer Chemotherapy Attachment, pls elect a leader within yr group. The leader will take charge and be responsible for the entire group.

The person to be reported on that day is Ms KJ Junaidah or Staff Nurse Kamariah at Daycare Oncology Unit, first floor of the Clinical Block of the HUKM at 9.00am SHARP. Pls gather earlier maybe at around 8.30am and go as a group to meet her together.

The group will then be split into 2 groups of 10 students each. U all divide among yrself so that it's easier on that day. One group will follow the nurse and the other will follow the pharmacist. At 2pm, they will switch group again. The activity on that day: ward round and the rest of it they will organise for us. No need to worry about this.

In case of any emergency or anything during the attachment in HUKM, u can contact Ms Rozita from HUKM first (013-3469656) or otherwise me, Siao Hui, Mr Imran (017-4490846), Ms Wong (012-3343502).

ND108 Nutrition Week 2011 :: 5 Colours A DAY‏

Hey, we are from ND108. Nutrition Promotion Week 2011 will be coming soon by 4 April – 8 April 2011. Lots of activities need your batch generous participations. The theme of this activity is 5 colours a Day. “5 colours A Day” means everyday 5 colours intakes from fruits and vegetables.

Firstly, we need Model couples from your batch!!

Title of the show is “The next IMU Fruiti- licious and Vege-able Couples”.

The models will be the healthy image throughout the Nutrition Promotion week 2011.

Please recruit at least 1 male model and 1 female model from your batch. Hampers will be given to the most suiting couple and champion who get the highest overall marks!

Secondly, there will be a photography competition.

The theme of the photography competition followed the theme of nutrition week, i.e. “5 colours a day”. Participants are urged to expand their creativity through 5 coloured fruit and vegetables. People should be in the photo. Provide title and a caption for the photo.

Entries will be opened from 21 March 2011 (Monday) until 2 April 2011 (Saturday), 5.00pm.

1.) CPK Peer Assessment Form Submission

Dr Low said that for the submission of CPK Peer Assessment Form will be on this Thursday during the CPK CAL session. Mr Shahzad and Dr Low will collect the form from us during the CAL session. If a person forget to bring or submit on that day, he or she will get zero for the peer assessment.

2.) Cancer Chemotherapy Hospital Attachment Grouping

For the Cancer Chemotherapy Hospital Attachment Grouping right, we'll follow the grouping list provided by AAD in the beginning of the semester i.e. (Group 1-6). Pls check it in the Timetable and Notice in the e-learning portal.

The hospital that all of us will be going is Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (HUKM) in Bandar Tun Razak.

We'll be attached to the cancer department of HUKM.

The time of attachment is from 9am-5pm.

As for the transportation, we have to arrange on our own as usual.

The dress code is the usual hospital attachment dress code (lab coat, ID & name tag and the PSD attire). Don't forget to bring the log book along as well. Pls submit yr log book 1 week later to AAD by 5pm.

I'll inform whom to refer to when we arrive there at HUKM once i received news from Mr Imran.

Students are encourged to bring their own containers and stop using using plastic bags and polysterene boxes.

Thus, any use of plastic bags and polysterene boxes will be charged an EXTRA 30 cents.

Clinical Pharmacy I Class Test!

A message from Mr Suraj, the module coordinator of Clinical Pharmacy I Class Test:

For the Clinical Pharmacy I Class Test, we need to focus more on ALL the lecture notes including pharmacoepidemiology and all the workshops & CAL tutorials conducted. We also need to know about the critical appraisal and all the calculations involved including the pharmacoeconomics. Pls don't forget to bring the CALCULATOR during the exam. Pharmaceutical Care Plan (PCP) will not be asked in the exam as well.

As for the format of the exam, there'll be TWO SAQs and we must answer all of them. We're given one hour to answer each question. He said as for guided readings, it's better to revise those related to the exam topic. He wishes all the best to us!

A message from Ms Wong:

For those who are going to Caring Pharmacy as their elective in sem break, can u pls put yr name in the Comment box? So that we can write a reference letter in one shot, certified by Ms Wong, for the entire group that are going Caring rather than one by one. I'll inform about the details in advance but i need the number of students first.

The latest deadline for this event is on next Wednesday. I will not tolerate and entertain anyone who put it after the deadline as it will affect the whole procedure that has been planned.

IMU 2011 Ball Committee presents Flight de Fantaisie will be held in JW Marriott Hotel KL on the 2^nd of April 2011 from 6.30pm-11.30pm.There will be performances, a dance floor, great food and not forgetting the incredible theme setting. All planned out for u guys and gals to enjoy with your friends. It is gonna be a night to remember. Don’t miss it! Dress code Black Tie Soiree/Formal Wear.

Get your tickets now as we have limited seats. There will be a booth selling out tickets for IMU BALL 2011, look out for it. We are following tier system for the ticket pricing so remember to get your tickets early.

Pricing of tickets are as follow:

Go Green Campaign 2011!

A message from the SRC:

Go Green Campaign will be held from 14th to 18th March 2011.

1) During this week, there will be a surcharge of 30cents for use of plastic bags or styrofoam boxes.

2) There is also a lucky draw, details are as follow: (perhaps it will be easier for you to tell them there is lucky draw and wait for them to look out for the details)

Students are strongly encouraged to bring their own container. For students who didn't use plastic bag from 14th -17th March 2011, they are entitled to a stamp. Collect 3 stamps and they are entitled to a lucky draw entry. There's no limit to lucky draw entry. Lucky draw will be held on 18th March 2011, from 11am to 12pm.

3) There is photography competition.

4) There is interbatch recyclables collection competition.

5) There will be talks held by WWF and various other NGOs.

A reminder from Dr. Gan for Elective!

To ALL,

For the elective, pls plan yr elective period according to Dr. Gan's schedule from 23 May to 1
July.

And those who still unsure and pending for the approval for the elective applications, Dr Gan request those students to have to be prepared with a back-up plan while awaiting for the applications to be approved for the elective.

U can submit as many applications form for elective to AAD before the start of elective period (23 May 2011), so pls make u have something for the upcoming elective. Dr Gan will not entertain those who are not able to do their elective after 23 May.

If u have any queries, pls refer to Dr Gan. By the way, Ms Chee Ling is on leave until next Thursday.

Changes to Venue for Clinical Pharmacy I Lecture! ♥

Kindly be informed that there is a change of venue for Clinical Pharmacy I lecture: Critical Appraisal of Economic Evaluation on 25 February 2011 (Friday).

The latest venue is at 3.04 (LT2). The change of venue is necessary for briefing to February 2011 intake students during their Orientation Week. The number of students from 1st semester from Medicine, Dentistry, Chiropractic, Chinese Medicine & Psychology which have around 300 students for the session. They initially book LT2 but the capacity of LT 2 is limited (only 269), so they swap the venue with us.

Sorry for any inconveniences caused.

For the Clinical Pharmacy I Workshop on 9 March 2011 (Wednesday), pls prepare and complete the Pharmaceutical Care Plan for the Clinical Pharmacy I Workshop Case Note 1, available in e-learning portal item number 22. The MSK PSD in the afternoon is the continuation of the clinical case in the morning and this PSD will be assessed (5% In-course Assessment).

Student Power Lecture IMU

Back in Sixties, it was the golden age of the student movement in Malaysia. However, the young generation nowadys seem have forgotten about the history behind - the struggle that has rocked the campus and the national politics nearly half a century ago.

Fahmi Reza, a filmaker, will be the speaker of the lecture. His documentary "10 Years Before Independence" had won the "Most Outstanding Human Rights Film’ in festival filem Freedom Film Fest in 2007. He will unveil the true story of the rise time of the struggle of students in the era '60an through public lectures. The lecture will be delivered through multimedia presentation, by using images, photos, videos, newspaper articles, archival material and interviews to IMU students.
